As a part of the long term cooperation between VAPRO and SMAK Bogor, PT. VAPRO Indonesia will do an audit to monitor the quality of the examination and assessment for SMAKBO students. This was started by an audit of the practical assessment for SMAK Bogor students. The audit took place in January 25, 2011 at two different companies where the students have their internship: PT Sandoz Indonesia and PT Actavis Indonesia. The follow-up of this practical assessment audit took place on February 24, 2011 at PT Aneka Tambang to monitor the quality of assessment and final presentation from the students at the end of their internship. The second part of the audit to monitor the examination and assessment at the school will take place later in June 2011.
During the audit, VAPRO monitor and make an observation for the execution of the internship and the assessment for the students in the workplace. This was to determine:
- What is the level of the internship?
- What the students learnt during the internship?
- How the students assessed (with daily report/journal, general report, practical assignments, etc.)?
- Is there a format for the report (daily journal and general report)?
- Is there a checklist to assess the students during the internship?
- What are the criteria to assess the students (hard skills: taking samples, preparing samples, doing analysis, calculation, reporting, cleaning work area, etc. and/or also soft skills: work planning, initiative, motivation, responsibility, professionalism, flexibility, independency, etc.)?
- Who assess the students? Is it the teachers from the school and/or company assessor? How is the background of knowledge and skills of the assessor?
- How many assessments for the students and how long is the assessment?
- And other small details.
Based on the result of the observation and monitoring, VAPRO make a report with several recommendations to improve the internship and practical assessment to meet the international standard.
