As a follow up on the long term cooperation between SMKN 7 Bandung and VAPRO, from 27 September until 1 October of 2011 VAPRO organized one week training in the field of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) at SMKN 7 Bandung. Mr. Entis Sutresna, principal of the school said: “In an earlier project with VAPRO, three teachers of process technology from our school were trained to the International VAPRO Standards of HSE. But in the near future SMKN 7 Bandung wants to integrate HSE in all aspects of our vocational education, so more teachers must know more about HSE. That’s why I asked VAPRO to set up this HSE course for 23 teachers of my school.”
The training was very successful. The first day Ms. Amy Togelang, from KN-RCI (Komite Nasional Responsible Care Indonesia) explained the principles of Responsible Care and Global Harmonized System (GHS). The second and third day Mr. Hendrik Kusnadi of PT. VAPRO Indonesia explained and practiced interactive learning on all relevant topics of HSE, most in the form of actual cases from companies. The fourth day the teachers got a practical training on the VAPRO practical safety lab. The last day Mr. Arief Bagus Arjuna, HSE manager of UNINDO, explained the way companies work with HSE in modern days. Special attention he gave about HSE management system and certification (OHSAS, ISO) and also on RI (Risk Inventory). Together with Mr. Hendrik Kusnadi and Mr. Arief Bagus Arjuna, the teachers made a tour throughout the school and made an inventory of all potential risky situations and risky behavior from the HSE point of view. The results of this RI were collected and handed over to Mr. Entis Sutresna, the principal of the school, for further improvement of the school. At the end of the course all 23 teachers of SMKN 7 Bandung and also a teacher of SMTI Yogyakarta who also attended the course, received a VAPRO certificate HSE trainer.
